Fun facts
The 1966 Batmobile, featured in the Batman TV series starring Adam West, was based on a 1955 Lincoln Futura concept car. Legendary customiser George Barris transformed it in just three weeks for the show.
Its sleek black exterior with red pinstriping, bubble windshields and bat-themed gadgets made it a firm favourite with fans. The car had a working flamethrower in the exhaust and a Batphone in the dashboard.
Barris bought the Futura for $1 and later sold the Batmobile at auction for $4.6 million in 2013. Its futuristic style and comic-book flair helped define Batman’s image for generations of fans. Holy history, Batman
